BREEDER CONCERNING
PUPPIES
PRODUCED AT HIS/HER
KENNEL
1. If you are contacting
VDD breeders, ask them
to provide you with the
parent's test scores.
2. Do the parents have
any incidence of hip
dysplasia in their
background? Have pups
produced by these
parents developed any
dysplasia? Have the
parents been evaluated
by PennHIP? What were
the results of the
evaluation? Have the
parents produced puppies
with OCD or any other
joint problems?
3. Has either parent
produced puppies that
were known carriers of
bleeding disorders: vom
Willebrand or Hemophilia
B? Is there any
documented evidence of
these two bleeding
disorders in either
parent's background?
4. Is there any
incidence of bite
problems (overbite,
underbite, crossbite),
missing teeth, or extra
teeth (excluding
premolars) in their
line?
5. Is there any
incidence of males in
this line of having only
one testicle?
6. Is there any
incidence of mental
instability in this
line, i.e. gun
sensitivity, game shy,
shy of strangers, fear
biters, extremely
aggressive, bird shy,
etc?
7. Have any of the pups
in this line developed
eye problems (ectrophic
or entrophic)?
8. What kind of
written guarantee
does the breeder
provide?
9. What are the strong
points and weak
points of his/her
particular line?
10. Will the breeder
provide you with a list
of references who have
purchased pups from
his/her kennel?
11. Are the dogs used
for hunting? Does the
breeder hunt his/her own
dogs? What types of game
do the dogs have
experience hunting?
12. If you are within
driving distances of any
of the kennels, make a
trip to look at the
parents in the field. At
this same time look at
the condition of the
kennel.
13. What is the breeder
trying to accomplish by
making this particular
mating, i.e. improve the
pointing ability,
increase water desire,
increase tracking
desire, etc.
