vom Wildflügel Females – Past

I have been extremely lucky to have owned some very good drahthaars over the years. Most of them, like my foundation bitch Inga vom Hirschhafen, are no longer with me. While Inga was instrumental in getting my breeding program off the ground, my other females have also significantly contributed to the development of the vom Wildflügel Drahthaar line. I would like to introduce them to you.

Inga vom Hirschhafen
1984 – 1996

Inga was braun and white ticked, weighed about 50 pounds, and stood 23 1/2 inches tall. Her VDD test scores were VJP-64 and 70, HZP-176, and VGP-III/259. She was my first Drahthaar who was small in stature but loaded with desire and drive. Inga was a phenomenal tracking dog that worked rabbits as well as any beagle I have hunted behind. She was very easy to train and taught me more than I taught her. I feel very lucky to have been owned by Inga and believe her personality, natural abilities, and trainability are reflected in her offspring. Inga was HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.

Dessy was braun and white ticked, weighed 68 pounds, and was 24 1/2 inches tall. She was a grand daughter of Blacky von der Roten Beeke and her VDD test scores were: VJP-66 and HZP-164, and VGP-III/292. Dessy produced my "B" litter vom Wildflugel.  Dessy was as good at hunting rabbits as any beagle I have ever hunted behind.  She was tenacious on track and no wounded bird could escape her in the field.  Dessy was a joy to train and hunt.  Dessy was HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.

        Odessa (Dessy) vom Kieferfeld
                      1984 to 1990

Alyssa (Allie) vom Wildflugel
1987 – 1993

Allie was solid braun, weighed about 60 pounds, and was 24 inches tall. She was out of Inga's first litter. Her VDD test scores were: VJP-72, HZP-173, and VGP-II/305. Allie was a tremendous upland dog that would locate and point birds from an incredible distance. If Allie could not find birds, they were just not there to be found. She always passed her great personality and natural abilities onto her puppies. Her personality would win anyone over and I can honestly say that Allie never met a person she did not like. She was HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.  Click here to see Allie's Ahnentafel

Dasha was braun and white ticked, weighed 60 pounds, and was 24 inches tall. She was also a daughter of Inga's and her VDD test scores were: VJP– 69, HZP-180, and VGP-I/289. She was the "complete package" - lived to hunt, had tremendous drive and a willingness to please. I believe she was a true reflection of her pedigree. Her personality was second to none. I could hunt all day behind Dasha without ever saying a word or giving a command. She is an example of the type of drahthaar that I strive to produce. Dasha was HD-free and her PennHIP rating was right 0.46 and left 0.46. She was negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.  Click here to see Dasha's Ahnentafel

Dasha vom Wildflugel
1989 – 1997

Illyssa (Lissa) vom Wildrücken
1987 – 1993

Lissa was braun and white ticked, weighed about 55 pounds, and was almost 24 inches tall. She had the looks, coat, temperament, drive, and desire that I like in a hunting dog. Lissa's VDD test scores were: VJP-67 and HZP-181. While at times she could be headstrong (well OK - maybe a bit stubborn), Lissa had a "never give up" attitude. She developed into one of my strongest retrieving dogs and loved to waterfowl hunt. Her desire to retrieve was only matched by her intense desire to hunt upland birds. Lissa was HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.

I imported Frannie as a puppy from Germany. Her test scores were: VJP-67 and HZP-182. Frannie was very confident and extremely focused during training. She loved the water and produced puppies with that same desire. Her untimely death came too early as she still had a lot of years left to hunt. I will always remember Frannie for her wonderful personality and the fact that as good as she was, Frannie always produced puppies that were better than she was. Frannie was HD-free and her PennHIP rating was right 0.46 and left 0.46. Because she was borderline for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder puppies in the litters she produced were tested, they were negative for vom Willebrand.

Franka (Frannie) vom Wittlerbaum
1996 – 2002

Laika vom Wildflügel
1995 – 2003

Laika was braun and white ticked, weighed about 60 pounds, and was 24 inches tall. She was the only daughter produced by Lissa. Her VDD test scores were: VJP-69, HZP-160, and VGP-I/296. Of all my females, I believe Laika had the strongest pointing instincts and was my favorite drahthaar. She was intelligent, high drive, very cooperative, had a great personality and was a total joy to train. I hunted Laika on all species of upland game and waterfowl. Laika produced some great puppies for me.

Unfortunately, she died shortly after whelping her last litter of puppies at the age of seven. I miss the times we could have had in the field hunting, but her offspring will continue to produce the type of drahthaar she was. Laika was HD-free her PennHIP rating was right 0.42 and left 0.42. She was negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.

Gabby was solid braun, weighed about 60 pounds, and was 24 inches at the shoulder. She was a daughter of Allie's and her VDD test scores were: VJP-63 and HZP-173. In her prime Gabby was a very strong intense natural pointer with excellent field searching abilities. Gabby produced some excellent puppies for me. When I retired her from hunting her eyes told me that she wanted to go but her body could not could not make it. So Gabby spent her remaining years in the house on the couch. I will truly miss her. Gabby was HD-free and her PennHIP rating was right 0.28 and left 0.28. She was negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.

Gabby vom Wildflügel
1992 to 2004

              Mikki vom Wildflügel
                    1995 to 2006

Mikki was black and white ticked, weighed 65 pounds, and was 24 inches tall. She was a daughter of Dasha's and her VDD test scores were: VJP-64 and HZP-181. Similar to Frannie, Mikki was a prime example of combining the vom Wildflügel drahthaar line with bloodlines from Germany. The result was a truly versatile dog with outstanding hunting ability. Mikki was equally strong in the field and water and backed naturally.  Her great personality and calm manner was obvious to all who meet her. Mikki was HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand bleeding disorder.
