Breeding females have two hip evaluations, one evaluation is performed by the HD-Zentrale in Germany and the other is a PennHIP evaluation. In addition, all females at vom Wildflügel Kennel are clear of vom Willebrand bleeding disorder and based on a pedigree analysis are at a very low risk for being carriers of Hemophilia B.

In 2007 new genotyping technology became available from Pawsitive ID for DNA genetic testing, including DNA fingerprinting for parentage verification, disease screening, and color trait testing. Starting in September 2007 vom Wildflugel will DNA test all breeding females and males used as stud dogs.
