Stud Dogs Used in the vom Wildflügel Kennel Breeding Program

The purpose of this page is two-fold. First, I wanted to recognize stud dogs that I used in the past which have been very important in the success of my breeding program. I also wanted to post pictures of stud dogs that will be used in future breedings.

Fox was braun and white ticked, about 24 inches tall, and weighed about 65 pounds. His VDD test scores were as follows: VJP-57, HZP-181, and VGP-I/306.

In my opinion, Fox had one of the best, if not the best, personalities I have ever encountered in male drahthaars. He sired six litters of puppies from six of my females and he consistently produced offspring that had his same great temperament and natural abilities. Fox had a very stylish point, was tenacious on track, and was very cooperative in the field. He was a real pleasure to be around whether it was hunting with other dogs or at home laying on the couch.

I believe giving credit where credit is due. Fox was very instrumental in moving my breeding program in its positive forward direction. That is the reason you see Fox on the pedigrees of my C, K, L, Q, R, U and Y litters.

Fox vom Weidebach
1990 to 2004

Blacky von der Roten Beeke

Blacky was approximately 25 inches tall, black and white ticked, and weighed about 65 pounds. His test scores were as follows: VJP-69, HZP-185 and 208, and VGP-Prize II/288. Blacky was imported by GNA member Jim Dunn in the late 1970's. Unfortunately, not many of Blacky's offspring were tested; however, he did produced some really talented drahthaars. While I was never able to breed to Blacky, I researched his pedigree and made the decision that this was the drahthaar I wanted to line breed on. If you look at my females' pedigrees you will see Blacky's influence. Blacky was HD-free.

Ares was solid braun, about 25 inches tall, and weighed 70 pounds. His test scores were as follows: VJP-73 and HZP-159. Ares was very strong in both field and water. I am fairly certain that all of Ares' puppies produced at my kennel have clean hips. He had a super personality and passed this trait onto his offspring. Ares was bred to Inga to produce my "A" litter (Allie) and Dessy to produce my "B" litter. He was HD-free.

Ares vom Fluss-Seite

Fox vom Wildrucken

Fox was braun and white ticked, about 25 inches tall, and weighed 65 pounds. His VDD VJP test score was VJP-63. Fox was bred to Inga to produced my "C" litter. Although he was a shorthair throwback, Fox could handle the harshest of hunting conditions. This was due to his intense prey drive and desire to produce game for his owner. Fox passed on his personality and natural abilities to the puppies he and Inga produced. Fox was HD-free.

Ike vom Dunnhof

Ike was braun and white ticked, about 25 1/2 inches tall, and weighed 75 pounds. His VDD test scores were: VJP-71 and HZP-177 and 180. Ike was bred to Inga to produced my "D" litter of puppies (Dasha). Ike had a great personality and coat and conformation that complimented Inga.  He had a lot of natural talent and was able to pass these traits to his offspring.  Ike was HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand and Hemophilia B bleeding disorders.

Oz was about 25 inches tall, braun and white ticked, and weighed 65 pounds. Oz's test scores were as follows: VJP-7, HZP-186, and VGP-I/316. He was a grandson of Blacky vom Roten Beeke and a littermate to my female Dessy. Oz had one of the finest noses I have ever seen in drahthaars. He   was a great tracking dog. Oz was bred to Allie to produce my "E" litter and bred to Lissa to produce my "F" litter. Oz was HD-free.

Arch von dem Nordlichen Wald

Arch was solid braun, about 25 inches tall, and weighed 70 pounds. His test scores were as follows: VJP-68 and HZP-166. He was rated as very good in both conformation and coat. Arch had that elusive "regal" look about him. He has a very good nose, strong pointing instincts, and the personality I look for in a stud dog. Arch was bred to Allie to produce my "G" litter and he passed away before I had the chance to breed to him again. Arch was HD-free.

Ulli was approximately 26 inches tall, braun and white ticked in color, and weighed about 80 pounds. Ulli's test scores are as follows: VJP-70, HZP-184, and VGP-III/283. Ulli was bred to Dasha to produce my "H" litter. He was imported from Germany as a puppy and I trained Ulli for his VDD tests. Ali was about 25½ tall, braun and white ticked in color, and weighed almost 85 pounds. Ali's test scores were as follows: VJP-68 and HZP-179. I always referred to Ali as the "gentle giant." He was bred to Allie to produce my "I" litter and  bred to Dasha to produce my "J" litter. Ali was HD-free.

Blacky von der Roten Beeke is on Ilter's mother's side of the pedigree. Although breeding to Ilster is a distant line-breeding on Blacky, I felt it was will worth the effort to send my females to Germany to breed to him.  Ilster was bred to Dasha to produce my "M" litter and Laika to produce my "Z" litter. He is HD-free and negative for vom Willebrand and Hemophilia B bleeding disorders.

Indy was solid braun, about 25 inches tall, and weighed 75 pounds. Indy was bred to Gabby to produce my "S" litter. Indy was injured in the spring and was unable to run in the VJP test. His HZP test score was 176. Indy's owner and I trained together for the HZP test, and I was very impressed with how focused Indy was. He was primarily an upland bird dog in Kansas and had lots of exposure to bobwhite quail. There was not a lot of difference between Indy and Izaak when it came to hunting, both were very intense once they hit the fields.
